advance v. 前進(jìn)

advanced adj. 先進(jìn)的

7. aim at 旨在

政府的這次運(yùn)動(dòng)旨在影響公眾輿論,。

aim n. 目的,；目標(biāo)

8. along with  連同…一起

Why don’t you takehim along with you when you go?

你為什么不帶他一起走

9. arrange for 安排，籌備

The meeting has beenarranged for Wednesday.

會(huì)議安排在周三舉行,。

arrangement n. 安排,；約定

在表示“安排某人做某事”的含義時(shí)，一般不說(shuō)arrange sb. to do sth. 而說(shuō)arrange for sb. to do sth.

10. aside from 除…以外（還有）

I hardly watch anytelevision, aside from news andcurrent affairs.

besides 除了,，但是還包括在內(nèi)

except 除了,，但是被排除在外

apart from 除…以外還有…

11. at one’s expense 由某人付費(fèi)

I treated my friend at my expense.

我請(qǐng)朋友吃了飯。

expensive adj. 昂貴的

expenditure n. 花費(fèi),，支出,，費(fèi)用。

spending n. 開(kāi)銷,，花費(fèi)

區(qū)別： expenses是指開(kāi)銷,，花費(fèi)。一般指平時(shí)購(gòu)物,、花錢的開(kāi)銷,。

expenditure是指支出，一般用于國(guó)家預(yù)算中的支出,，比較正式和宏觀,。

spending就指消耗，消費(fèi)的意思,。包含以上兩個(gè)詞所覆蓋的含義領(lǐng)域,。

12. at random 隨機(jī)地，隨意地

The librarian took a book from the shelf at random.

圖書(shū)管理員隨意從書(shū)架上取下一本書(shū),。

randomly adv. 隨機(jī)地

13. attribute A to B 將A歸因于B

The doctors have attributed the cause of the illness to an unknown virus.

醫(yī)生認(rèn)為這種疾病是由一種未知的病毒引起的,。

注意：同學(xué)們要注意不要把A與B的方向弄反,。

attribute n. 屬性；特征

14. at the rate of 以…的速度

The car is going at the rate of 40 miles an hour.

汽車正以每小時(shí)40公里的速度進(jìn)行,。

rate n. 比率,，速率；v. 估價(jià),，定級(jí)

15. at the risk of 冒…的危險(xiǎn)

He rescued the dog at the risk of his own life.

他冒著生命危險(xiǎn)救了那條狗,。

16. be aware of 知道，明白

Ishe aware of the price of shoes like those?

他知道那樣的鞋很貴嗎,？

= realize 了解，意識(shí)到

17. be absorbed in 全神貫注于

John was absorbed in his thoughts.

約翰陷入了沉思,。

absorb v. 吸收,，吸引

18. be accustomed to 習(xí)慣于

需要考生注意的是，to后面接動(dòng)詞-ing形式

19. be acquainted with 熟悉,，了解

Students who are already acquainted with one foreign language tend to find it easier to learna new one.

20. be apt to 傾向于,，易于，往往

The kitchen roof is apt to leak when it rains.

一下雨廚房的房頂就容易漏水,。

= be inclined to通常用人為主語(yǔ),，一般為主觀意識(shí)覺(jué)得的。

= tend to可以用于人,、物或事,。tend 的名詞形式為 tendency(趨勢(shì)）= trend
